Arathusa Safari Lodge is located in the northern region of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve which shares a 50km of unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park and animals have the freedom to go wherever they wish. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve has one of the richest game populations in the country, the chances of seeing the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) are excellent. You are almost guaranteed with sightings of the Big Five and the reserve is famous for incredible leopard sightings. Therefore, guests visiting Arathusa Safari Lodge can expect treated to an exceptional wildlife experience. Luxury, hospitality, Intimacy, pampering and romance are the order of the day at Arathusa Safari Lodge which has only 13 Suites.

9 luxury water-facing suites within Arathusa’s main lodge perimeter. Each room has a bathroom en-suite, with shower, as well as a private outdoor shower and private verrandah overlooking the waterhole

4 luxury bush-facing suites which are remotely located away from the lodge and affords guests with the advantage of privacy within the untamed wilderness. Each room has its own plunge pool and veranda and a lounge area within the extensive open plan unit, as well as indoor and outdoor shower. A Rejuvenating health and wellness facilities are to complete this luxury Safari Experience.

Additional amenities include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities. There are no televisions in the rooms at Arathusa. In keeping with the traditional safari experience, the bush is best experienced “al dente”. Guests are however able to make calls from the reception area, and to send or receive e-mails and faxes.

4 Ways to get to Arathusa Safari Lodge from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg:

  1. A direct federal Air flight to Arathusa Airstrip followed by xxx minutes road transfer to the lodge
  2. SA Express Flight to Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit) followed by approximately 1.5 to 2 hours road transfer (80 Kms)
  3. Flight to KMIA Airport (Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport) followed by a 3- hour road transfer to the lodge (165 Kms)
  4. Flight to Skukuza Airport followed by 3-hour road transfer to the lodge

Day 1: Johannesburg to Arathusa Safari Lodge

Depart Johannesburg to Arathusa Safari Lodge on a Federal Air Flight and depending on your flight option board on either a 10h30 OR a 12h30.

On arrival at Arathusa Airstrip you will be welcomed by the lodge’s team and transferred to the lodge.

Enjoy a refreshing drink while completing the check in procedures. Once you are settled into your suite, depending on your arrival time enjoy lunch or afternoon tea or just take a dip in your refreshing plunge pool (bush-facing suites only )and feel all stresses and strains just melting away in the deep peace of this exclusive destination.

Around 15h30 gather for a decadent High tea during which you will be introduced to your ranger

who will share great pointers on how to spot the wild animals in the bush. After your briefing, Board on the lodge 4 x 4 Open Landcruiser before setting off on your first wildlife safari drive. The absence of windows and the elevated vantage position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. You will have an amazing chance not only to view game but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens.

While on Game Drive, you will stop for Sundowners at a magnificent location and toast the splendour of Africa as you watch the sun set. As darkness falls, nocturnal animals of the bush get excited as they celebrate “” their dawn “and come out. Your skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying dinner around a campfire with the sounds of the crackling fire and night noises discussing the afternoon highlights with your ranger and planning for tomorrow safari.

One last opportunity to experience the magic that only the African Bush can offer!

After a hearty breakfast followed by check out procedures, it is time to bid farewell to the bush. But there will be time to purchase some memorabilia from the lodge curio shop before being transferred to the lodge airstrip to connect with your federal Air flight back to Johannesburg.
