Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Dinner is served under the stars (weather permitting) and combines African and Western cuisine.

{This needs to be put on download under Victoria Falls The Largest Waterfall in the World

The Victoria Falls have been billed as the Greatest Falling Curtain of Water on this Planet, making it one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

The Victoria Falls is considered to be the largest waterfall in the world.

They are not the widest waterfall or the highest waterfall but with all dimensions taken into account, including almost the largest flow rate, they are considered to be the biggest curtain of falling water in the world. Surpassing the magnificent Niagara Falls and Iguacu Falls.

The Victoria Falls lower mean annual flow rate compared to these two giants is only because of the reduced flow it has during the long dry season of Southern Africa.

The Victoria Falls are 1700m wide and are made up of five different “falls”. Four of these are in Zimbabwe and one is in Zambia. They are known as The Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls and Horseshoe Falls in Zimbabwe and the Eastern Cataract in Zambia.}

The hotel grounds are secluded and well maintained and borders the Zambezi National Park

The hotel has a large terrace running along the front of it and the view from here, of the never-ending spray from the Falls, is enchanting. Ilala Lodge is the perfect spot from which to embark on a voyage of discovery in one of Africa’s favourite tourist destinations. Here, historical sites, culinary experimentation and a host of activities in pristine natural surroundings are within your reach.

Wild animals, such as warthog and impala, often graze on the hotel lawns and restaurant diners can see and hear the majestic roar of “the smoke that thunders” in the background and enjoy Zimbabwe’s finest a la carte cuisine in The Palm Restaurant, featuring tranquil views and elegant colonial ambience. A second restaurant, Kubika, will whisk you away on a culinary adventure, serving delicious crocodile, kudu and ostrich dishes with a Mongolian twist. Your 2-night stay is in a Standard room with breakfast included.

Expect lush rain forests, leisure river cruises, bungee jumping, exciting elephant interaction experiences and whole lot more wrapped into one unforgettable adventure.
